How to choose between telephoto and ultra-short throw for elevator projection?

For operators who are new to elevator projection advertising machines, they are bound to face such problems. It will definitely help to figure out the following and how to choose.

What is the difference between telephoto and ultra-short focal length?

Why does elevator projection only have telephoto or ultra-short focus?

In fact, the projector also has a normal short-throw model. The difference between the three types is the ratio of projection distance/screen width. The smaller the ratio, the shorter the projection distance is required to project the same image width.

For example, if the throw ratio of a projector is 1, then using this projector to project a 100-inch screen requires the lens to be 2.214 meters away from the screen.

When the throw ratio is greater than 1, it is defined as telephoto. When it is less than 1, it is called short focus; and when the throw ratio reaches below 0.6, we usually call it ultra short focus.

Generally, the depth of the conventional passenger elevator box is about 1.4m~1.5m, and the width of the elevator door is between 0.8m~1.1m.

For example, the projection ratio of the M4+ telephoto elevator projection of the Qiping elevator advertising machine is 1.2, so it takes a distance of 1.32m to cast a 1.1m wide elevator door, which can be installed on the box opposite the door.

The projection ratio of the M6 ultra-short throw elevator projection is 0.32, so a full 1.1m wide elevator door needs a distance of 0.35m to be installed above the door.

According to the short throw ratio, it is necessary to hang a bracket on the top lighting area of the cabinet to fix the projector. Imagine, in such a closed environment in an elevator, what is it like with a long bracket hanging above the head of the elevator user?

Not only the lighting is blocked, because it is not connected to the elevator, it will feel very abrupt, and it is also unknown whether it meets the safety regulations for elevator use.

Therefore, the only ones that are most suitable for using elevators to project advertisements are telephoto or ultra-short focal length.

Some media companies believe that ultra-short focus is the best, and tall users in the elevator will not block the projection. This is undoubtedly, ultra-short focus perfectly solves the occlusion problem.

If the operator has strong financial strength and there are no locals but tycoons, then ultra short throw can be considered, please feel free. Because of the projector under the same parameters, the cost of ultra-short focal length is 600~1000 yuan higher than that of long focal length.

Some media companies also reported that there are LED floor signs on the upper part of the elevators, which cannot be equipped with ultra-short focus equipment. This is also a special situation in the elevator environment.

Around the unique location of the elevator door, advertisements can be placed not only on the door inside the box, but also outside the box. Compared with the ultra-short focal length, the long focal length is more suitable.

What? Why not super short throw? Because the equipment needs to be installed on the wall, the protruding wall distance plus the length of the machine, the projected picture will exceed the width of the elevator door.

So, how to choose, the first consideration is the cost, and then the choice of the elevator’s internal and external delivery, and the needs of the elevator’s property, etc., choose the type of product that suits your own operation.

Another question is that a friend from the media used the elevator projection advertising player in this way and cast it in the middle of the elevator door.
